Welcome to Perfume Workbench (available at perfumeworkbench.com), a web application for perfumers to manage ingredients, build formulas, and create accords. This Privacy Policy explains how Perfume Workbench ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our service.

By using Perfume Workbench, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our service.

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: Email address and password when you create an account using email registration
  • User-generated content: Perfume formulas, ingredients, accords, categories, and any descriptions or notes you create within the application

3. Google User Data

Perfume Workbench offers Google Sign-In as an authentication option. This section specifically addresses how we handle data obtained through Google OAuth.

3.1 What Google User Data We Collect

When you choose to sign in with Google, we request access to and collect the following information from your Google account:

  • Email address: Used to create and uniquely identify your Perfume Workbench account
  • Display name: Used to personalize your experience within the application
  • Profile picture URL: May be displayed in your account settings

We do not request access to your Google contacts, Google Drive, Gmail, or any other Google services beyond basic profile information.

We use Google user data exclusively for the following purposes directly related to providing Perfume Workbench functionality:

  • To authenticate you and verify your identity when signing in
  • To create and maintain your Perfume Workbench account
  • To display your name and email within your account settings

We do NOT use Google user data for:

  • Advertising or marketing purposes
  • Selling or renting to third parties
  • Profiling or tracking users across other websites
  • Any purpose unrelated to providing Perfume Workbench services

3.3 Google Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, trade, rent, transfer, or disclose your Google user data to any third parties.

Your Google account information is stored securely and used solely within Perfume Workbench for authentication and account identification. We do not share this data with advertisers, data brokers, or any external parties.

The only exception is our database hosting provider (Supabase), which stores your data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations to protect your information and only process it as instructed by us.

3.4 Google Data Security

We implement robust security measures to protect your Google user data:

  • Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Encryption at rest: Your data is stored in encrypted databases
  • Access controls: Strict access controls limit who can access user data
  • Secure authentication: We use industry-standard OAuth 2.0 protocol for Google Sign-In
  • No password storage: When using Google Sign-In, we never see or store your Google password

3.5 Revoking Google Access

You can revoke Perfume Workbench's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account permissions settings. After revocation, you will no longer be able to sign in using Google, but your Perfume Workbench data will remain until you request account deletion.

We use the information we collect to:

5. Data Retention and Deletion

5.1 How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain your personal information, including any data obtained from Google, for as long as your account remains active. If you stop using the service but don't delete your account, we will retain your data so you can access it if you return.

5.2 Account Deletion

You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. To request deletion:

Upon receiving your deletion request, we will:

  • Delete your account and all associated data within 30 days
  • Remove your Google user data (email, name, profile picture) from our systems
  • Delete all your formulas, ingredients, accords, and preferences
  • Send confirmation once deletion is complete

Note: Some information may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days for disaster recovery purposes, after which it is permanently deleted.

5.3 Data Export

Before deleting your account, you can export all your data (ingredients, formulas, accords) using the Export feature in Settings. This ensures you have a copy of your work.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We may share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • With your explicit consent: If you give us permission to share specific information
  • Service providers: We use Supabase for database hosting and authentication. They process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations to protect your information
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental request
  • Safety and rights: To protect the safety, rights, or property of Perfume Workbench, our users, or the public

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information:

  • HTTPS encryption: All data in transit is encrypted using TLS
  • Database encryption: Data at rest is encrypted
  • Secure authentication: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms
  • Access controls: Limited access to production systems
